Keith Murdoch

I’m very lucky to be able to explore this painting on a daily basis. I pass by it many times where it hangs (in my house) and it always brings to mind something Richard Knight wrote about Richard Diebenkorn’s Ocean Park paintings: that they “are all about the pentimenti — the earlier images, forms and strokes that have been changed and painted over. The surface opens to expose what lies beneath it, and the past becomes present” Link. I feel that there is certainly something of this: “the past becomes present” in Keith Murdoch‘s beautiful small canvas.
